![]() ![]() However, since most sane frameworks don't use Bazel, it's not a common issue for me. It's at least somewhat usable in VSCode, while the CLion plugin always lags behind. The only time I use VSCode for C++ development is when I have to use the hateful Bazel build system. However, that's no longer the only way to do remote development in CLion. Their first try was annoying and limited, as it insisted copying all the code from the host machine. Having read other answers I would add that VSCode is really good at remote development, though CLion has caught up by now. What’s the difference between AppCode, CLion, Codespaces, and Visual Studio Code Compare AppCode vs. I would chose CLion over VSCode any day, but VSCode is certainly usable. It's not up to CLion or Visual Studio, not even close, but it can now be considered a competent C++ IDE. VSCode started out as little more than a code editor, but it's evolved into a pretty competent IDE since. What’s the difference between AppCode, CLion, Rider, and ReSharper Compare AppCode vs. ![]() It's not even funny how bad CLion is way ahead for C++ massive codebase.ĬLion is still very much the superior IDE. For C++, it's mile ahead of VS.ĬLion on the other hand is just golden out of the box. ![]() But it can't handle refactoring that well. VSCode on the other hand is workable, searchable and decent compared to VS even with that amount of code. I don't see ANYTHING remotly good about this product which went from decent (2012-2014) to complete trash in 2019. Stepping in the Code TAKES forever, inspecting is terrible. On the best machine(s) I had, putting a breakpoint could make it die. Autocomplete dies, random crashes, remote debugging is a pain and it's limited by 4Gb of RAM due to 32 bit executable. It can't handle for SHIT such amount of code. Some other project I worked with in the past was 8millions LOCs.Īnd let me tell you, VS is a complete joke. I can't take anyone seriously when they tell me that VS is a good, professional IDE. I'm using VS2019 Pro with Unreal Engine and god. ![]() |
